The nominees

Mohammed Abu Al Shamat

The 22-year-old right-back enjoyed a breakthrough season at Al Qadsiah, establishing himself as one of the brightest young talents in the Roshn Saudi League.

Defensively, he contributed to the Khobar-based side’s status as the division’s meanest defence with only 29 goals conceded. Abu Al Shamat was equally impressive going forward, contributing six assists and a goal - in the Eastern Derby against Al Ettifaq - as well as creating 38 chances.

Suhayb Al Zaid

Rounding off a trio of loanees on this list, the 20-year-old was one of the key figures in Al Fateh’s fairytale escape from relegation in the second half of the season.
