The Roshn Saudi League is celebrating 2025 FIFA Arab Cup success after Abderrazak Hamdallah, Aschraf El Mahdioui and Marwane Saadane helped Morocco land the title in Qatar.
It was Al Shabab’s Hamdallah who proved the hero in the final on Thursday, the striker first forcing the match against Jordan into extra-time with a late equaliser for 2-2 and then netting a 100th-minute winner as the Atlas Lions ultimately prevailed 3-2.
Hamdallah’s two goals at Lusail Stadium lifted him to three for the tournament - he also registered an assist - meaning the RSL’s second all-time leading scorer was arguably the standout star in Morocco’s trophy triumph.
Afterwards, Hamdallah announced his international retirement, clearing the way for the three-time RSL golden boot winner to chase down current No.1 Omar Al Somah in the Saudi top-flight all-time scoring charts once the league resumes next week.
El Mahdioui and Saadane were also integral to Morocco’s lifting of the crown - both played in Thursday’s final - with the Al Taawoun captain scoring in the semi-final victory against UAE. El Mahdioui’s Al Fateh counterpart, meanwhile, was a mainstay of the Morocco defence throughout the tournament.
Like Hamdallah, the pair return to RSL action next week when El Mahdioui’s high-flying Al Taawoun travel to Al Kholood on December 26, while on the same day Al Fateh host four-placed Al Ahli hoping to kick-start their climb up the table from second bottom.
Hamdallah’s Al Shabab feature in arguably the game of Matchweek 11 when they travel to RSL champions, and his former employers, Al Ittihad on December 27.
