SPL to increase foreign players quota

The Saudi Pro League (SPL), in coordination with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) announced on Friday, December 29, 2023, to introduce a change to the number of players registered in the squads of club competing in the Roshn Saudi League.

The amendment will take effect starting from the next season 2024-25, allowing teams to register 25 players instead of the previous 30, taking into account the right of each club to register ten non-Saudi players, in accordance with the following requirements:

1. Eight non-Saudi players without an age limit.

2. Two non-Saudi players born in 2003 or after in order to boost investment in young talent.

3. Each club continues to have the right to register one foreign player (born in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), provided that he is born in 1998 or after.

4- Each club participating in the Roshn Saudi League has the right to register a maximum of eight non-Saudi players in the list for each match in addition to one foreign player born in Saudi Arabia (except the King's Cup and the Saudi Super Cup competitions, where all registered non-Saudi players can participate).

The decision comes after coordination with the club support strategy, the management of the national teams and the technical director of SAFF, in addition to holding a number of workshops with clubs.
