The Saudi Pro League (SPL) has announced the schedule for the 2026-27 Roshn Saudi League, outlining the key dates for the season and the preliminary programme for all 34 rounds.

The new campaign will begin on August 13, 2026, and conclude on May 29, 2027, with the competition taking place alongside an exceptionally busy calendar of international, continental and domestic commitments. Understandably, those have influenced the scheduling of fixtures and rest periods throughout the season.

The calendar has been devised with approximately 80 days allocated to international breaks and national team commitments, while also taking into account Saudi Arabia's hosting of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

Across the season, the league has 103 available matchdays to accommodate the 34 rounds of competition, which comprises a total of 306 matches.

This has required careful planning to ensure the smooth running of the championship, maintain competitive balance and provide clubs with appropriate recovery periods, particularly during stages of the season that overlap with continental competitions.

Under the preliminary schedule, the league will stage four rounds in August, four in September, four in October, three in November and three in December, before pausing in January. The competition will then resume with three rounds in February, two in March, six in April and five in May.

A total of 25 rounds are scheduled to be played on weekends, while four rounds will be partially staged across weekends and weekdays. A further five rounds will take place entirely during midweek, reflecting the demands of an increasingly congested football calendar.

The scheduling challenge is further heightened by the participation of seven Saudi clubs across four international competitions, particularly during the final third of the season when league fixtures coincide with the decisive stages of continental tournaments and other major competitions.

Working closely with clubs and relevant stakeholders, the SPL has sought to strike the best possible balance between the needs of clubs competing on multiple fronts and the requirements of a consistent, competitive domestic season.

The approach is designed to support both the continued development of the competition and the overall fan experience, while maximising the limited number of available matchdays.

The SPL emphasised that the 2026-27 schedule reflects the exceptional nature of the upcoming season in Saudi football, with the distribution of fixtures carefully designed to achieve the greatest possible balance between all sporting and operational requirements.
