Crysencio Summerville: Electric winger born to entertain, from Rotterdam to Riyadh
When Crysencio Summerville announced himself to English football with a match-winning goal at Anfield in 2022, it felt like the arrival of one of the game's most fearless young attackers.
Fast, direct and blessed with exceptional close control, the Dutch winger has spent the past few seasons building a reputation as an elite-level, exciting wideman.
Now, after making his name in England’s Premier League and Championship, the 24-year-old has begun a new chapter with Al Hilal and the Roshn Saudi League.

Rotterdam prospect to pro football
Born in Rotterdam in 2001, Summerville's football journey began in one of the Netherlands' most productive talent hotbeds. A product of Feyenoord's renowned academy, he quickly developed a reputation for electrifying pace, quick feet and a willingness to take on defenders.
Like many young players, however, his path to the top was far from straightforward. Loan spells at FC Dordrecht and ADO Den Haag provided valuable experience in senior football, helping Summerville adapt to the physical and tactical demands of the professional game while continuing to refine his attacking instincts.
Those formative years laid the foundations for a player who has never been afraid to express himself.

Leeds United: where everything came together
Summerville's move to Elland Road in 2020 proved the true launchpad to his career.
Initially developing under trailblazer Marcelo Bielsa, he earned praise for both his technical quality and willingness to embrace the Argentine coach's demanding philosophy.
Bielsa once described Summerville as possessing "real talent", while stressing the importance of continuing to improve - an approach that would shape the youngster's development.
Summerville's breakthrough arrived during the 2022-23 Premier League season; most memorably, a dramatic late winner against Liverpool at Anfield that halted the hosts' long unbeaten home league run and showcased the composure that has become one of the player's trademarks.
The following campaign, after Leeds had dropped into the Championship, elevated Summerville to the division's standout performer. With 20 league goals and nine assists, he inspired Leeds' promotion challenge.
Summerville was named the Championship Player of the Year, as well as earning a place in the competition's Team of the Season, too.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke repeatedly highlighted Summerville’s ability to decide matches in the biggest moments - a quality that became increasingly evident throughout the season.

Starring at West Ham United
Summerville's outstanding final season at Leeds earned him a return to the Premier League when West Ham United acquired him in August 2024.
From there, his debut campaign in East London offered flashes of his considerable potential.
Summerville scored his debut West Ham goal in a 2-1 victory against Manchester United, but his progress was interrupted by a hamstring injury sustained in the FA Cup. The set-back ended his season prematurely, limiting Summerville to 22 appearances in all competitions.
Still, he returned to make a much greater impact in 2025-26. After enduring a lengthy wait for his next goal, Summerville rediscovered his rhythm during the second half of the season, at one point scoring in five successive matches through January and February.
Summerville finished the season with seven goals and five assists from 34 appearances in all competitions and, despite suffering relegation, was rewarded with his first call-up to the Netherlands senior squad - and a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A FIFA World Cup to remember
Long regarded as one of Dutch football's brightest prospects, Summerville featured for the Netherlands at every major youth level and was part of the squad that won the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in 2018.
His continued development eventually earned recognition with the senior national team, but it was at the 2026 FIFA World Cup that he truly announced himself on the international stage.
Summerville became one of the Netherlands' lead performers in North America, impressing with his pace, slick play and attacking threat as the Oranje reached the Round of 16.
However, it was in the groups that he really stamped his authority: Summerville's first international goal was a sweet left-footed strike in the 2-2 draw with Japan, before he added another in the 5-1 victory against Sweden.
