'I want to bring us to the highest level' - Reijnders explains Al Qadsiah move
The Roshn Saudi League continues to add real star talent, with Al Qadsiah completing the signing of Tijjani Reijnders from Manchester City,
Reijnders, 28, was confirmed as Al Qadsiah’s latest recruit on Wednesday, the Dutch midfielder having agreed to a five-year deal.
Speaking to the club's official media channel for the first time, Reijnders was asked what attracted him to Al Khobar outfit.
“Especially the ambition of the club," he said. "The club wants to be the biggest in Asia and what they did already in the past and what we can do now in the future, it triggered me a lot. And, yeah, I want to help the club to bring it to the highest level."
Reijnders spent last season at English Premier League heavyweights City, playing 47 matches and contributing seven goals. He helped the club win both the League Cup and the FA Cup.
Reijnders also featured this summer for the Netherlands at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, playing three times.
On what he wants to achieve going forward at Al Qadsiah, the former AZ Alkmaar and AC Milan star said: "I came here to try and win trophies with my teammates - we're playing for four trophies, if I'm right.
"We want to win as many as possible and we are all very eager to do that. And, personally, I hope I can help the team as much as possible with goals and assists.”
Reijnders will look to slot straight into Brendan Rodgers’ RSL title challengers, who opened their 2026-27 campaign last week with an impressive 3-1 win at Al Shabab. He could make his debut on Friday, in Matchweek 2's huge home clash against 2024-25 champions Al Ittihad.
