Ronaldo and Al Ittihad win big in Fans' Choice Awards

You guessed it; well, you voted for it.

Cristiano Ronaldo is your 2024-25 Roshn Saudi League Fans’ Player of the Season, after the winners of the inaugural Saudi Pro League’s Fans’ Choice Awards were announced on Wednesday.

Ronaldo, last season’s top scorer in the RSL with 25 goals, was recognised twice, in fact, the Al Nassr captain also collecting the fans’ vote for Goal of the Season for his incredible volley against Al Riyadh.

The Fans’ Player of the Season goes to the RSL star voted Man of the Match the most times in a campaign – in 2024-25, Ronaldo stood alone, with 15.

And the goal that on Wednesday sealed his second fan award? The Matchweek 27 effort, of course, in which Ronaldo thundered an unstoppable volley high into the Al Riyadh net as Al Nassr went on to win 2-1.

So good was the goal that almost a fifth of the fans’ votes – 19 percent – went to Ronaldo.

Skill of the Season

For a piece of individual excellence - other than a goal - look no further than N’Golo Kante’s sublime bit of skill for Al Ittihad against Al Khaleej in Matchweek 5.

The Frenchman’s slice of magic, in which he took possession and then evaded a slew of markers, helped set up Steven Bergwijn’s goal that secured a 4-1 victory for the eventual RSL champions.

Save of the Season

Keeping the Al Ittihad vibes flowing, the vote for best stop of the 2024-25 campaign went to Predrag Rajkovic for the Serbian’s brilliant save from Al Hilal’s Malcom in the Saudi Clasico in Matchweek 21.

Rajkovic’s effort received a whopping 28% of the votes, while the Al Ittihad No.1 also came second, with his save against Al Riyadh in Matchweek 25 garnering 11% of the votes.

Tifo of the Season

Making a hat-trick of successes, Al Ittihad fans were awarded the prize for the best tifo of 2024-25 for their stunning mosaic at home to Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in Matchweek 13.

The tifo, which spelled out “Aura” in reference to Al Ittihad’s title-winning spirit, received more than half the total votes, with 55%.

Moment of the Season

It should not surprise, therefore, that the season’s best moment also involved Al Ittihad. With 65% of the votes, the moment when the Jeddah club were crowned champions by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, Minister of Sport.

Nine clubs had nominated their best moments of the 2024-25, with the other eight teams including the likes of Al Qadsiah, Al Fateh, Al Okhdood, Al Khaleej, Al Riyadh and Al Shabab.
