Ronaldo and Jesus win March RSL awards

Al Hilal head coach Jorge Jesus continued his domination of the Roshn Saudi League Manager of the Month award, picking up his fifth consecutive honour of the 2023-24 season after his side extended their record-breaking winning run in March.

The veteran Portuguese led his side to another perfect month, with the league leaders winning all four games over the course of the month. Jesus saw off competition from Al Ittihad’s Marcelo Gallardo, whose side have been resurgent in March with three consecutive wins.

Meanwhile, the RSL’s current top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo was named March Player of the Month, earning the accolade for the third time this season. He faced stiff competition from Al Ittihad forward Abderrazak Hamdallah and Al Ettifaq winger Karl Toko Ekambi, but emerged the winner thanks to four goals in three matches.

Ronaldo had previously won the award in August-September and December.

The Goalkeeper of the Month award went to Al Taawoun’s Mailson, who conceded the fewest goals in March (one) and kept the most clean sheets (two). He becomes the fourth different goalkeeper to win the honour this season, with only Al Hilal's Yassine Bono winning the award on more than one occasion.

Meanwhile, Al Ittihad starlet Ahmed Al Ghamdi was the outright winner of the Young Player of the Month award following his goalscoring exploits for the Jeddah club. The 20-year-old was one of his side’s best performers last month, following his January loan move across the country from Al Ettifaq.

The March awards covered performances in Matchweeks 23, 24 and 25.
